1. The program

SportPass NIL (nil.sportpass.com) is software that university athletic departments use to manage name, image and likeness offers, agreements and payments with their student-athletes and recruits. SportPass NIL text messages are sent on behalf of the athletic department to people who already have a relationship with it.

Every message names the organisation and SportPass NIL, and ends with Msg&data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. Messages are informational and transactional. There is no marketing, no promotional content and no third-party content.

2. What you may receive

  • A one-time offer code. When a school sends a recruit or student-athlete an offer, the email carries the link and one text carries the code that opens it. One text per offer.
  • Notifications about your offers, agreements and payments, once you have opted in on your Profile: an offer received or about to expire, an agreement waiting for your signature, a payment scheduled or released.

Marketing messages are sent only to people who ticked the separate marketing box:

  • Marketing messages about new paid work your school opens to you — an appearance, a signing, a campaign with open slots — only if you ticked the separate marketing box. Each names the company and the pay.

Example: State University via SportPass NIL: your offer access code is 1666-8351. Use it with the link in your email to open the offer. Never share this code. Msg&data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.

Example: State University via SportPass NIL: a payment on your agreement was released today. Msg&data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.

Example: State University via SportPass NIL: Cyclone Club opened 3 paid autograph-signing slots to you. Open the athlete app to raise your hand. Msg&data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.

3. How you opt in

Student-athletes opt in themselves, in the athlete app at nil.sportpass.com/athlete, under You › Settings › Text messages. They enter their mobile number, tick the box for each kind of message they want — each box carries its own consent wording, and marketing messages have a box of their own, separate from the notices — and press Save my choices. Nobody else can turn it on for them.

The opt-in step as it appears in the product. The organisation’s name is the person’s own. Leaving the marketing box unticked still allows the notices; neither box is ticked for you.

Recruits give their mobile number to the school's staff so the school can send their offer. That number receives one text with the one-time offer code for that offer. It does not enroll them in anything else; ongoing texts need the opt-in above.

4. How to opt out

Reply STOP to any message. END, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, QUIT and STOPALL work the same way. You will receive one message confirming you are unsubscribed and nothing more. You can also turn texts off where you turned them on, by pressing Stop all texts. A number that has opted out is not messaged again unless its owner opts back in.

5. Help and support

Reply HELP to any message for help, or email sean@prth.com.

6. Frequency, cost and delivery

  • Message frequency varies. Usually a few a month; none when nothing needs you.
  • Msg & data rates may apply. Your mobile carrier’s plan decides the rates.
  • Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery depends on your carrier and your plan.

7. Privacy

Your mobile number and your texting choice are used only to send the messages described here. They are never sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Read the privacy policy.

8. Changes to these terms
